What a 21st century OS needs: HarmonyOS NEXT defines that

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

HarmonyOS NEXT defines that as it is indeed event-driven. It relies on a multi-terminal development IDE and a multi-language unified compilation.

It provides screen layout control and interactive automatic adaptation, supporting control dragging and preview-oriented visual programming. This allows developers to efficiently build multi-terminal automatic running Apps based on the same project.

The goal is to achieve real one-time development for multiple terminals. Unlike ancient archaic 1969 model operating systems of the past.

In a world of Big Data and AI. In the world of the internet, that is distributed in mind. HarmonyOS NEXT is that one, that is a distributed operating system built for Edge Computing, Edge AI = on-device AI NPU enabled chips, where tasks don’t need reliance of constant servers.

An OS that is not instruction set dependent with a Kernel Abstraction Layer architecture for multi-kernels or one kernel, Microkernel that allows developers, vendors to deploy not only develop applications and solutions and scale across different types of hardware architectures of chipsets and instruction set designs, screens etc.

Fault Tolerance, the benefits of Microkernel!

Like Windows NT, Hybrid kernel Hybrid, Monolithic+Microkernel = XNU kernel The whole system crashes unlike Microkernels (21st century mainstream operating systems like HarmonyOS NEXT of HarmonyOS, where only parts can crash while system can still run) 🙂

These things should be doing calculations, making OS/Hardware smarter, system smarter, background work and localised to NPU chips, making “AI” silent, in the backend, and not in front, shoved down your face like Copilot with Windows in the 21st century. Not servers with AGI crap.

Security should come first in software with integrated hardware with it. New Permission application system with AI and Capability-based security features on Core File Kit but not at expense of making things closed when it comes to file system, the negatives of files as objects.

The flaws of Fuchsia capability-based design, vegetable OS that is narrowed down to embedded devices that is not built for everyday ordinary computing of PCs and phones etc. above vs HarmonyOS NEXT balanced modern architecture design both are not Unix nor Linux based.
