Weibo Adapted for Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT Live Photos: Support for Posting & Viewing

The Huawei HDC 2024 Developer Conference took place on June 21st this year, marking the official launch of the pure-blooded HarmonyOS NEXT all-scene smart operating system.

According to a tip from blogger @WHYLAB, Weibo has adapted to incorporate the live photo posting feature for Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT. However, this functionality is currently only visible as ‘live’ images on devices running the HarmonyOS Next Beta. Users on HarmonyOS 4.0, Android, and iOS versions of the Weibo app temporarily cannot see the live identifier.

Additionally, as revealed by blogger @Adak’s on-site post, Huawei’s live photo feature interface will be released to third-party app adaptations, enabling a one-stop operation for capturing, editing, broadcasting, and posting dynamic photos.

The live photo function captures up to about 1.5 seconds of footage before and after the picture is taken, enriching the information stored in a single photo. Currently, Apple’s iPhone devices allow uploading of Live Photos to third-party apps, and OPPO’s Reno12 series smartphones support uploading Live Photos to the Xiaohongshu app.
