Huawei Mate X6 “Large Folding” Phone on the Horizon with Side Capacitive Fingerprint Solution

Blogger @DigitalChatStation today revealed that Huawei’s new large folding phone is in the works, expected to be the successor to the current Mate X5 model, dubbed “Mate X6”. This upcoming device is rumored to feature a Kirin 9100 processor, support for “5G and satellite communications,” and incorporate a side capacitive fingerprint solution.

Additionally, the blogger also mentioned that “many Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 folding phones slated for next year will also adopt the side fingerprint solution,” while “vivo’s folding phone with ultrasonic in-display fingerprint technology will remain ahead for a while.”

For comparison, Huawei’s Mate X5 phone, launched in September 2023, uses a side fingerprint solution and features a “super clear dual-screen” design (external screen + internal folding screen), supporting pixel-level brightness adjustment from 1 to 1800 nits, 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 426ppi pixel density, and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, earning dual certifications from TÜV Rheinland for color accuracy and accurate color projection.
