Huawei Collaborates with Global Operators to Promote 5G-A Development, Including China Mobile / Unicom / Telecom

During the MWC 2024 Shanghai, Huawei hosted a global 5G-A commercial pilot program launch event themed “Pioneering Leadership, Winning the 5G-A Era”.

China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, Hong Kong’s HKT, UAE’s du, and Oman’s Omantel were among the global 5G-A operators in attendance, jointly discussing the development of 5G-A networks. Huawei and the operators jointly held the launch ceremony for the 5G-A commercial pilot program, reaching six agreements, and will work together from six aspects: “Pilot Operators Unite”, “Building Pilot Cities”, “Upgrading Business Models”, “Driving Business Innovation”, “High-Quality Network Construction”, and “Jointly Promoting Ecosystem Prosperity” to jointly promote 5G-A development.

The first standard version of 5G-A, 3GPP Rel-18, was officially frozen in Shanghai on [June 18th of this year], marking a milestone event in the development of the 5G industry, signifying that 2024 will be the first year of 5G-A commercialization. 5G-A, short for 5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G, is a technological evolution of 5G, capable of significantly enhancing capacity, speed, latency, positioning, reliability, and other aspects compared to 5G.
